About Us

The club was formed in 1984 with the support and encouragement of United Automobile Services, and continues to flourish with the help of the successor companies under the name Arriva North East, including Arriva Northumbria. It caters for the growing number of bus enthusiasts interested in both the present day activities of Arriva North East and in the history of United and its immediately associated companies. The club has around 200 members living as far afield as Scotland, the south coast and Devon as well as in the local area.

Members are kept informed by our recently upgraded monthly publication "The United Enthusiast" containing vehicle and service news of Arriva North East, articles, letters, book reviews, comment and details of events. There are also major articles, usually historical, and the newsletter provides a platform for members to share the results of their researches. Publication is towards the end of the named month, and by courtesy of Arriva each issue usually contains the Company's vehicle allocation sheets for that month. Paper editions now feature colour covers, while electronic editions feature wider use of colour photography.

Meetings are held at various locations, and excursions are organised from time to time to places of interest.

New members are always welcomed and we have members of all ages and from various social backgrounds, united by their common interest.
